Variny Yim is the Vice President of Communications for The Financial Literacy Group. In that role she applies her broad range of experience to help firm clients communicate to their target audiences about money.
For nearly 20 years Ms. Yim has been focused on communicating with specific segments of the public on complex financial matters. She specializes in developing financial literacy campaigns and messages that make a compelling case to act to a target audience. She has held positions as Regional Director of the Jump$tart Coalition, a financial literacy trainer for Visa, and a blogger for the Money Wise Women forum on Forbes.com. She has also written and blogged for other financial education websites including LifeTuner and Kwedit and collaborated on a book entitled, The Teen Girl’s Gotta-Have-It Guide to Money. Ms. Yim provided communications support to the national PBS show MoneyTrack® that teaches people how to invest and protect their money.
As Director of Financial Education Programs for the Employee Benefit Research Institute / American Savings Education Council, Ms. Yim oversaw the Choose to Save® Campaign, the Save for Your Future Campaign and the media campaign for the Retirement Confidence Survey. In those roles she has garnered coverage in such publications as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, and The Washington Post.
Ms. Yim began her career as a print and broadcast journalist at USA WEEKEND magazine, USA TODAY, and NBC. Later, she did public relations for high-profile companies such as Maxis/Electronic Arts, Starbucks, 24 Hour Fitness, Kodak.com, and Monsanto.
Ms. Yim graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French.
